INHERIT THE WIND

Directed by Ed Giron

Inherit the Wind is the fictionalized account of the famous Scopes Monkey Trial, a battle between evolution and religion which in real life was waged between former American presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan and famed 20th century attorney Clarence Darrow.

DIJO Productions Executive Director Jerry Oshinsky says, “This is a play that has everything. It is a gripping courtroom drama; there is a love story, and many vibrant characters in addition to the characters representing the real-life Bryan and Darrow. The fact this is all based on true events makes it even more alive and real.”

Director Ed Giron has recently directed Santa Barbara productions of The Persians, western civilization’s oldest surviving play, in which he was happy to have the input from the National Theatre’s adapter Ellen McLaughlin and music composer Michael Roth; Ives Lives, a series of absurdist one-act comedies by David Ives; and Spoon River Anthology. He has also appeared as Jackson Pollock in Fifteen Rounds with Jackson Pollock and J. Robert Oppenheimer in Love Song of J. Robert Oppenheimer. He is staging this production of Inherit the Wind in the round.
