SANTA BARBARA PRO-CHOICE COALITION AND FRIENDS present

JANE: ABORTION AND THE UNDERGROUND

by Paula Kamen

In commemoration of the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade

A provocative drama about resistance, activism, and justice in the pre-Roe era

The Jane Collective operated from 1969 to 1973, before Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in the U.S., and was created by a group of mostly middle-class housewives and students. Jane was the one safe alternative for Chicago women of all backgrounds and operated in private apartments throughout the city, without the assistance of licensed physicians. The Collective boasted no fatalities and was well-trusted and commonly referred by police, university, clergy, and hospital staff.

Directed by Annika C. Speer and Angela Chandra. Set design by Taylor O'Connor. Featuring Annalise Aguirre, Kane Anderson, Ariel Blankinship, Angela Chandra, Allie Danel, Kelsee Kennedy, Terry Li, Eric O'Donnell, Laurel Phelps, Ronit Roodman and Sevasti Travlos.
