Four of Finland's most exciting contemporary playwrights in a repertory of Finnish plays designed to introduce American audiences to the vast riches of Finnish drama.
This year's 2007 Lit Moon season features a truly historic event: the first repertory of contemporary Finnish plays ever staged in the United States, and marks the first time a Finnish director has been invited to direct a play for a professional American company. About the Playwrights

*Special Event, one time only! Screening of Ambush, acclaimed 1999 Finnish film that received seven "Jussis," the Finnish film awards, including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, Music, Editing, and Sound and Set Design. Director Olli Saarela's film is set in the early days of WWII and follows a Finnish soldier fighting for the Axis against the Russians. Starring Peter Franzen and Irina Bjorklund. See them on screen at 4:00 in Ambush, and on stage at 8:00 in For Sheer Love of Me! All tickets $10, Contemporary Arts Forum, Paseo Nuevo Mall.
The repertory is a co-production between the Lit Moon Theatre Company and the Finnish Theatre Information Center (TINFO), and has been generously underwritten by support from the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Cultural Finnish Foundation, the Finnish Ministry of Education, the Finnish Literature Information Center, Finnish Literature Abroad, the EU Culture 2000 program, the Santa Barbara Arts Commission, and the Santa Barbara Foundation.
