21st Season Celebration

The Pennington Dance Group (PDG) celebrates its 21st anniversary as a southern California dance company. Artistic Director, John Pennington, established the group after his fourteen year career as a performer and master teacher with the Lewitzky Dance Company.

PDG will present a variety of work at Centerstage that includes the award winning Out Of with set design by visual artist Susan Rankaitis, Ungoverned Spaces with score by Grammy-winning composer Tom Peters, a rare reconstruction of German expressionist choreographer Harald Kreutzberg’s Dances Before God, and the premiere of a duet suite titled Encounters.

The Los Angeles Times has written “Pennington Dance Group excites!  Pennington’s choreography made body sculptures animate the very air into vertical and horizontal spatial planes”; “with his own style and galloping energy he allowed the eight dancers to soar”;

“Los Angeles, which underappreciates its dance artists, owes a debt to John Pennington. He is one of the city’s treasures.”

Saturday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m.
