Pivot!, produced by Meredith Cabaniss of Selah Dance Collective and Katelyn Carano of Seventh Dimension Dance & Elemental Aerial Arts, will feature a series of aerial and dance performances by local artists. Each work represents a different facet of the work that SELAH is best known for supporting in the community: versatile pieces that engage dancer, audience, and choreographer and challenges all to take an introspective approach to questions about human nature. In this show we will explore the amazing array of human emotion we can experience and share through different dance mediums!

Selah Dance Collective will preview a selection from their newest evening-length work, an adaptation of the infamous Rite of Spring, originally performed in 1913 in Paris by the Ballets Russes with choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky. Over the past few months, Meredith Cabaniss has developed a new and refreshing take on the revolutionary 1913 ballet with dancers from Selah, State Street Ballet, and the greater Los Angeles area in collaboration with UCSB's Dance undergraduate program. Rooted in research and embodied in choreography through Cabaniss' distinctive blend of athleticism and heart, Rite of Spring promises to be a performance that you won't want to miss.
