About

January 13-16
Santa Barbara Dance Theater presents
2022 Season

*Please Note: All audience members are required to show proof of vaccination or negative test result (taken within 72 hours of the event) along with a photo ID to be admitted to any performance.

The concert will feature two new works by new Artistic Director, Brandon Whited (Asst. Prof. of Dance/Director of Dance Performance), with Guest Choreography by Nancy Colahan (UCSB, Senior Lecturer), and Weslie Ching (UCSB Dance Alum).  Shifting the creative development model of the company more toward a project-based company Brandon is excited to bring in professional dancers from near and far to engage with the UCSB campus and greater Santa Barbara arts community.  Featured dancers this season are Nicole Powell (Carpinteria, CA), Paige Amicon (Los Angeles, CA), Miche Wong (San Francisco, CA), and Calder White (Vancouver/Toronto), with apprentice-understudy Riley Haley (UCSB Dance class of 2024).

Featured on the program are two solos by Nancy Colahan—excerpts from Pandemic Suite, created via zoom last year, and a duet—I Don’t Exist Anymore, by Weslie Ching.  Brandon Whited will pick up the winter 2020 creative process for the completion and premiere of to Harbor, and will present a brand new quartet—ARENA, or 1 of 4 & 4 of 1—for the company dancers. The concert features Lighting and Production Design by Michael Klaers in his fifth creative collaboration with Brandon.

A complimentary reception will follow each performance. Join the artists for a little Mull & Mill - tasty mulled warm beverages and goodies, a little milling around with good company.

LIVESTREAM: The January 14 7:30pm (PST) and January 16 2pm (PST) performances will be available through Livestream.  A Livestream ticket is required to access the Livestream feed, the stream for viewing will only be available at the performance times.
