Stories From the Neighborhood

Dan Gunther reading "Dave and the Dentist" by Stuart McClean

Robert Lesser reading "Your Lover Just Called" by John Updike

Anne Torsiglieri reading "The Occasional Garden" by Saki

Susan Keller reading "Bridge" by Nancy Huddleston Packer

Stories that explore the communities that make up our world, the people we work with, those we live with, our neighbors, and the people who provide services for us, some poignant and some amusing. Join the performers on the patio after the performance for complimentary cookies and milk, because every great stories should be topped off with cookies and milk.

“My favorite literary event in town, hands down, is Speaking of Stories. There is a real thrill in sitting in a darkened theater and hearing inspired actors perform short stories. What does it make me think of? My mother. My mother reading aloud to me and doing all the voices. This is one of our great local institutions.”

—T.C. Boyle in Santa Barbara Magazine Best of 2012, February 2012
