Stories from the New Yorker
Featuring a performance by Joe Spano
Joe Spano reading "Means of Suppressing Demonstrations" by Shani Boianjiu
Nancy Kawalek reading "The Stone Mattress" by Margaret Atwood
Tony Miratti reading "Oldfinger" by Frank Cammuso and Hart Seely
Thought-provoking stories from recent editions of New Yorker magazine that comment on the journeys of romantic relationships, growing up, and a personal history of war. Join the performers on the patio after the performance for complimentary cookies and milk, because every great stories should be topped off with cookies and milk.
“My favorite literary event in town, hands down, is Speaking of Stories. There is a real thrill in sitting in a darkened theater and hearing inspired actors perform short stories. What does it make me think of? My mother. My mother reading aloud to me and doing all the voices. This is one of our great local institutions.”
— T.C. Boyle in Santa Barbara Magazine Best of 2012, February 2012
