TWELVE ANGRY MEN

As a young defendant awaits sentencing for the murder of his father, twelve jurors confined to one room hold the fate of this man and their deliberations have truly life and death consequences. It looks like an open-and-shut case. Then, the deliberations begin--tempers get short, the murder is re-enacted, secrets are revealed as each man must expose his own past and prejudices in order to get to the truth. Performed in the round at the intimate Center Stage Theater, the play will bring audiences right into the jury room as the action builds climactically. The jurors’ final verdict and how they reach it, has made this drama the most enduring, engaging, and thought-provoking courtroom drama of our time.

The Santa Barbara production will be directed by Katie Laris, a theatre arts professor at the Santa Barbara City College Theatre Group, whose recent productions include Born Yesterday, Over the Tavern, Real Women Have Curves, and The Man Who Came to Dinner. Twelve Angry Men features Ben Chang, George Coe, Gene Garcia, Ed Giron, Brian Harwell, Mark Lee, Stuart Orenstein, Jerry Oshinsky, Clyde Sacks, Alfred St. John Smith, Wilson Smith, Bill Waxman, and Tim Whitcomb. Lighting and set design by Ted Dolas.
