Wind in a Mirror... Ayahuasca Visions

A multimedia solo show by Josie Hyde

Music by Tom Lackner and Amazon shamans Don Agustin and Don Jose

Video by Rani DeMuth and Josie Hyde

Wind in a Mirror...Ayahuasca Visions is a boldly original multimedia solo show, a play of irony and paradox about death, guilt and transcendence. The story is a search for enlightenment climaxing in the Amazon in an ayahuasca, the hallucinogenic Vine of Death, ceremony.

The unique mix of spoken word and song is accompanied by a surreal art video with the music of Tom Lackner and Amazon shamans Don Agustin Rivas Vasquez and Don Jose Campos. Wind in a Mirror...Ayahuasca Visions premiered in May 2012 at the Marsh in San Francisco to a sold-out theater and Josie received a standing ovation. John Klein of Klein Films wrote, “Riveting, still speechless the next day!”

Strictly speaking, that body asleep in your bed is kin to your corpse.

Occupant elsewhere. Every night we disappear.

Without this little dab of perspective, we’d go mad!

Josie Hyde has won first place in poetry slams in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Chicago, New York, Costa Rica and Berlin and performed her poetry in festivals and clubs in North America, Central America and Europe. Twice she received The Honor Award for Lyrics in The Great American Song Contest. Spalding Gray was her good friend and inspirer. Drummer/percussionist Tom Lackner composes, records and produces in his studio The Tompound in Santa Barbara, and tours with Jeff Bridges in the band The Abiders. Rani DeMuth has screened her films at over sixty international film festivals, winning awards in every category of filmmaking. Her short film The Double starring Eric Roberts received LACMA's Art of Film Award.
